A brief style guide for men’s apparels

Men have often contemplated on their clothing choices, while women have a larger variety of apparels to choose from, men only have few but now it is changing. Men apparels in Dwarka do show us that the variety of clothing is wide. The style and the range of choices have changed. The stylists on social media have changed the game altogether. The clothes of women are now being styled on the body of men and the men who carry the styled outfit look effervescent. Now it is no longer a question or rather a differentiation between the clothing/ apparels of men and women, it seems to be the same or at least that is how social media portrays it. But it is only about how you carry a styled look; one must be comfortable and confident in the look she/he carries. The social media and the reality do stand at a distance but the spread of information reaches through and so does the reality changes.

Women mostly, shop from men’s section of the mall, they take a piece of clothing and style it in a way that it co-relates with the outfit. Not just that but the classic blazer-set look paves the way for a woman to turn around the look into ‘Boss-lady’. The question of searching for shops of men and women have changed with the times. The difference now lies only in the traditional apparels of the genders. The traditional apparels cannot be exchanged or perhaps the future might disagree with us, but as far as the present reality goes the traditional do remain at poles hence cannot be exchanged and styled.

College, Malls and Dreams

I lived in Dwarka, New Delhi for 3 years, from 2013 to 2016, for my college education. I rented a bed in a paying guest accommodation in Dwarka Sector 13 and would travel to Dwarka Sector 9 six days a week. This was my first time living away from home and it took me a while to get used to the independent lifestyle. Things became better when I made a few good friends in college and formed a good social circle. After the college classes, some of us would want to hang out and to find a decent place, we would visit all the malls around looking for a dining establishment where we could sit and relax for hours on end. My friends and I must have visited over 4 malls in a week but found none of them to be operational. We did spot a few food joints but the rush of customers would force us to leave the establishments after our meals. We wished and hoped that someone would build a fully-operational Mall in Dwarka for us but it just did not happen in the three years of our college lives. ...

An Attractive Destination

Dehradun used to be an institutional area in the late 90’s but by the early 2000s, the city started developing its residential, commercial and recreational sectors to appeal to migrating families, school and college-going youth and salaried employees. Real estate agents and private builders stepped in to take over the residential sector, corporations stepped in to develop the commercial sector and entrepreneurs stepped in to establish recreational zones in and near the commercial and residential sectors. The entrepreneurs invested in restaurants, movie theatres, cafes, bars and game zones to take advantage of the rapidly increasing young crowd in the city. As more and more institutional groups set up colleges in the city, restaurants and movie theatres started observing a rush of crowds. There were already many restaurants in Dehradun in the late 90’s but the establishments catered to the well-off families who would dine at the restaurant every once in a while. But in the early 20...

Food court a place of cultural diversity concerning food

Since the pandemic has dawn upon his in these past two years, the hygiene and sanitization has become central to the workings of life. The functioning of things is now dependent on the hygiene level. In the early days of covid-19, the impact of fear was immense and prevailed for the next few months of it. Even now people are layered with the mongering fear of the repercussion of covid-19 but since precautions have laid its course, the fear has settled down rather than it being settled into the hearts and minds of the people. In the few months being did not step out or ordered food from outside – restaurant food, junk food or did not eat the street food. Markets were closed, restaurants were closed and so were the streets but the food delivery apps were running in the hope that people will order food. After the fear vanished into the thin air of covid, people noticed that food in the restaurants and the very famous cafes was being served as well as delivered with utmost precautions...
